John, I'm Only Dancing

Annie's very sweet, she always eats her meat
Joey comes on strong, bet your life he's putting us on
Oh lordy, oh lordy, you know I need some loving
Oh move me, touch me

John, I'm only dancing
She turns me on, but I'm only dancing
She turns me on, but don't get me wrong
I'm only dancing

Shadow love was quick and clean, life's a well-thumbed machine
I saw you watching from the stairs, you're everyone that ever cared
Oh lordy, oh lordy, you know I need some loving
Move me, touch me

John, I'm only dancing
She turns me on, but I'm only dancing
She turns me on, but don't get me wrong
I'm only dancing

John, I'm only dancing
She turns me on, but I'm only dancing
She turns me on, but don't get me wrong
I'm only dancing

Dancing
Won't someone dance with me?
Touch me,
Ohhh!

Ten-Second Timers

If Ashley were in a band that's what it would be called. It's essentially just a joke about how we took these pictures. Good times....

Nautical

My friend Ashley in her adorable (yet slightly scandalous) nautical inspired dress and lovely leather jacket.

AAAAAHHHH!!!!
So fucking cute! Stole this from a friend's facebook mini-box.

I've also learned how to make the English pound symbol, see:

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
I want to learn how to DJ. I think I'd be a good DJ. Someone give me turntables? And then teach me how to use them? Maybe we can start a DJing collective, like the She Set or that one that Leah chick (you know, the Chanel ambassador) is in.

Just a thought. But I do really want to be a DJ.

Cities in Dust/Like A Prayer

Dress: H&M (on sale for $15!)
Necklace: Target
Tights: American Apparel
Shoes: Dr. Martens

This outfit is a lot 80's goth/Madonna, mostly because of the dress. But tonight I'm having a wonderful night out with Ashley, including Chinese food, some Starbucks, The Horrors, and The Mighty Boosh. Excitement is building.

KITTY!!

I really wish the shutter would go before she started closing her eye, but you get what you get. Anyway, this is Bids (the third, technically, I didn't name her). She's my lovely adopted kitty, I got her from the humane society years ago. She's a fatty but I love her nonetheless.

Day 23: A Youtube Video

Those (below) are two self portraits I just did on my new Canon! No photoshop, just the sun and some tree branches

The Joy Formidable/ Io Echo

Recently, a couple bands have been brought to my attention, the first is The Joy Formidable. A Balloon Called Moaning will be their first stateside release. That link is to their last.fm account, where you can download Greyhound in the Slips for free! They're one of those perfect shoegazey bands from the UK. If you like My Bloody Valentine, and/or The Big Pink, you might enjoy these guys.

Also, Io Echo, a similar band out of Los Angeles, California. The band consists of Io, singer, and Leopold Ross (who played bass live for The Big Pink on their 2009/2010 tour, which I saw. He's an interesting kind of dude. I love his shirts). Check out their Myspace (linked) and download the song "Pixels". A couple of their songs are also available for download on Itunes US, so get on it!

(And btw, I love that bands are giving out free downloads of one of their songs. It's the perfect way to encourage people to buy the album!)

Enjoy these two dark, shoegazey beauties. xx

New Best Coast Free Download!

Best Coast is gearing up to release their (her) debut album by giving away a free track, well, it costs you giving away your e-mail address. Which is not a big deal at all, all things considered. Anyhow, here's a link to Gorilla vs. Bear (who have moved recently o a .net domain) Get the new track, titled "Boyfriend" here.

I...

...officially hate going to the dentist. I'm a bleeder! My gums bleed so much every single time the hygienist gets anywhere near them! Hate hate hate. It's uncomfortable. And the sun was setting right in my eyes. And they always try to fucking talk to you! Um , I know you're trying to be nice and friendly, but I can't talk with your hands in my mouth. Kay thanks.

Why would anyone want to be a dentist anyway? Looking in people's mouths all day doesn't seem like fun AT ALL. It just seems gross.

On the plus side, my gums are in fact NOT receding. Thank god! (Yeah, that's right, god isn't capitalized. I don't believe in God, capitalized, and am just using the phrase because I cannot think of anyone else to thank. Except maybe my dentist...........)

Noel on the I-D Website

Thanks once again to The Velvet Onion for alerting me to some amazing piece of Mighty Booshdom. It's Noel Fielding speaking about his upcoming art exhibit! There's a video (part one of two? I guess?) of him in his studio speaking about his drawings and whatnot, and as many people are glad to see, he's back to black hair. You can tell the peroxide has done a bit of damage, but that happens to the best of us. Trust me.

See the video here.

Glastonbury 2010

So, I couldn't actually go seeing as I'm in Cleveland, Ohio (US) and not anywhere near the UK, but here are some amazing pictures I pulled off the official Glastonbury website. Enjoy!

Scary Mary

This is actually pretty good! I would believe it's meant to be a horror film. You know, if I didn't already know it wasn't.....

Day 22: A Website

I love The Velvet Onion. It's a site devoted to all things Mighty Boosh and all things related to the Mighty Boosh. It keeps me up to date with all the goings on in the Booshiverse. From Noel's art shows to Childmen screenings, even to IT Crowd updates! The Velvet Onion is a must-see for any Boosh fan. It's how I found out that Noel is back to dark hair after a brief stint as a blonde.

That last pic is Noel dressed as Princess Diana for Halloween. Just thought I'd make that clear. It was Halloween.
Noel Fielding

She's essentially the worst mother ever, but I love her nonetheless for this.

Those Nails

As I mentioned earlier, I finally found the fake nails with the black tips. Too bad they're pretty, well, bad. But they're fun to play with! And that's all that really counts.

She tastes like cigarettes and alcohol, up all night on Adderall...

Style Survey

1. One fashion trend I really regret is:
Those big black pants with chains. I know they were never a huge trend outside of the Hot Topic scene, but they were god awful.

2. The one thing that always completes any outfit is:
A pair of rocking sunglasses. I like my red Ray-Bans or my black Moscot knockoffs.

3. I would describe my personal style as:
A rock n' roll mashup of everything that inspires me and everything that looks pretty. And glitter.

4. My fashion muse is :
Oh geez there are so many! I absolutely love Alexa Chung and Kate Moss and Sienna Miller (However I can't exactly copy them because they're waaaaay skinnier than me). But I love Noel Fielding's sense of style. And Sue Denim and Dee Plume from Robots in Disguise. And I will always be inspired by 90's fashion in general, especially Kurt Cobain's look.

5. If I could own one designer piece of clothing it would be:
A beautiful Chanel bag. I would kill for one.

6. I would love to raid the wardrobe of:
Once again there are so many! I'd love to just have a massive vintage store to raid on the daily. Or Noel Fielding's wardrobe.

7. Today I am wearing:
My Hong Kong Rugby jersey and jeans. Hair tied up. I'm not going anywhere so it's a pretty lazy day.

Day 21: A Recipe

I've been waiting for the recipe day for a very long time. I don't have an exact recipe for it, but it's mostly based on preference anyway. The dish: Fiesta Salad. The perfect summer meal, combining health and taste. Yeah.

-Lettuce base (whatever you please, Romaine, Iceberg, it doesn't really matter)
-Black beans
-Corn
-Diced Chicken (pre-marinate it with some zesty seasoning before cooking)
-Top with crushed tortilla chips
Dressing:
1/2 Cup Salsa
1/2 Cup Ranch

And the best part about this recipe? You can add pretty much whatever you want to make it fit your preferences! It's really one of the best dishes I've ever had.

Pink Floyd "The Wall" Movie T-Shirt (Bob Geldof with no eyebrows!!)- Salvation Army find.
When I got it, it smelt of cigarettes (someone else's obviously). Oh the history in that shirt. There's a small hole in the armpit. I think it's one of my favorite Salvation Army finds along with my Hong Kong Rugby jersey and white go-go boots.

I'm trynna do this new thing where I wear lipstick all the time. I've been doing the black wings for a while (all thanks to Maybelline line stiletto liquid eyeliner!), and now I'm pairing it with either a bright red or this more purpely subdued red. It's just something I'm trying....

Day 20: A Hobby of Yours

I don't really have a defined hobby, although I suppose you could say photography is my hobby. But I do like collecting things. I'm a bit of a hoarder. I like having lots of books and magazines and CD's and nail polish and makeup and all sorts of stuff.

On a side note, I finally found those press-on nails with the black tips. I'm excited.
