My Bloody Valentine

I am utterly obsessed with this album right now!

Snow Storm Traffic Bullshit.

This is all going on at one of the MAJOR intersections in the area. Right by various malls and the freeway. One car is fucked up, and out comes a bagillion cop cars, an ambulance, and a fucking fire truck. Completely messing up traffic. Obviously it was a slow day in the emergency response world (even though this is during a snow storm, a time when there are a lot of other accidents going on that need attention. Fucking Ridiculous. They blocked off two or three lanes, including the left turn lane.

Here's the Skinny...

...on Cleveland! Well, not entirely, but the following are my three favorite places to go in Cleveland/greater Cleveland.

The Cleveland Shop! Insane vintage clothing store, granted the store is very small and most of the stuff they have on display is rental, but they offer a huge amount of jewelry! I bought my homecoming dress her (refinished 60s cocktail dress!). It's on the west side, right by Chelseas(though Chelseas has much more than the Cleveland Shop, it's near impossible to find anything and when you do it's all ripped up!) Also, right by Bent Crayon (record store).

The Beachland Ballroom is down on Waterloo, and is one of the best venues in Cleveland (along with The Grog Shop and Now That's Class). A wide array of artists play the Beachland Ballroom, all indie and local bands play here. Also, they have a record store downstairs. In the same stretch of Waterloo are a few art galleries and two other record stores- Music Saves and The Blue Arrow- I prefer The Blue Arrow (owned and operated by one of my friend's uncles!)

And finally...RECORD DEN!! Located in Mentor, a northeastern suburb of Cleveland, Record Den is my all time favorite record store in Cleveland. They're store is full to the gills of cd's, records (new releases as well as boxes and boxes of older ones, at many prices), 45's, cassette tapes, videos, box sets, t-shirts, stickers and patches, incense, you name it!! My most recent purchase from there is the Electric Prunes album on vinyl. If you live in Cleveland and haven't been here, you're missing out big time!

NME Shockwaves Winners

While the vast majority of these awards are well deserved (of course I voted for Dominos by The Big Pink!!) I'm incredibly upset that Primary Colours (The Horrors) was not voted best album. Other than that I'm okay with the list. But the next Horrors album better win, motherfuckers!

Polaroids

Can I just say how amazingly upset I am that Polaroid film is discontinued? Not only are Polaroids incredibly convenient, but you can also get some really cool photographs out of them. Fuck the free market for not investing in/buying Polaroid film!!!

"Clouds over Earthquake"- Wooden Shjips

Get this- someone filmed a bunch of clouds and then set it to this song by the Wooden Shjips. Fucking crazy! But the song is utterly amazing, and you should all listen to this band. Kay? Kay. (But if I ever find more videos of clouds and this song on Youtube I will be utterly embarrassed for you.)

OH...on a side note. I have a 0% in my AP Brit Lit class. Just thought I'd put that out there. Because I waited to make up a vocab test. That I totally failed when I made it up today. This is what we call a "Fuck My Life" moment.

Jolly Good!

I think I can officially label myself as an Anglophile (for those of you that are unaware, there's always dictionary.com). We're learning about England in my comparative government class, and I cannot stop thinking about the culture. Fuck the government! I wanna be a London club kid. I hope I end up there someday. It seems that most everthing good has originated there (including me!), with the exception of grunge of course. That's all America (until the rest of the world caught on, haha). Of course I like thinking about the rest of Europe as well, but it all seems to come back to that good ol' Red White and Blue (The OGs, not our crummy USA bullshit).

Maybe I'll watch Austin Powers later... :)
